I have both wondering if one is just weaker than the other ,is the different ways to get rid of one and not the other?I also wiped glass on tank last nite front and sides.by noon time today already had a foggy light brown alage all over glass .that is not tipical 8O

Sounds like two different species of algae to me, the rusty algae is probably diatoms, easily cleaned up with the use of herbivorous snails. The other sounds like cyanobacteria, which is caused by excess nutrients in the water and low waterflow. I seem to remember your having PO4 problems, I would guess this is the stem of the cyano, and when the PO4 is under control, they cyano will be easily managed.

My advice in getting rid of cyano is always increase your flow and your actinic light. This has worked for me in the past.
