Lol. They are one step ahead of you!
So apparently they did not eat the eggs... they moved them.... They are wigglers now! Well we'll see what happens now
cover the intake with something girl or the babys will go for a death ride up it. congrats . see i told u never give up. good job
Well I started up my 20 gallon and tried to move them with the slate figuring I'll either lose them in the move or the parents will eventually eat them so if they don't make it, at least I tried something. Anyway most of the wigglers came off the slate as expected and are floating about the tank, so I don't know how good their chances are! A small group are still left in with the parents on the filter. I'm definitely thinking moving the slate before the eggs hatch is easiest... My boyfriend wanted to wait until they are free swimming and catch them but that sounded like too much of a pain haha. Next time I will just need to act faster!
For what it's worth, you should tell your boyfriend that eggs travel better than babies . It's always easier on the fry to move them the least amount possible once they hatch. So moving slates with eggs IS the correct way of preserving more fry. The score is YOU: 1, Boyfriend: 0 lol Move the slate the day you see the eggs next time.

well hows every one doing haven't herd in a few days.
The train continues on for me. I'm having not problems hatching and raising the fry. My problem now is trying to find homes for them. We have a few local stores but so far only one has had any interest and purchased 50 from me. From what I've heard he knows his fish and was happy with mine. We have an auction coming up and while I'm not expecting great prices I'm hoping for more interest. I guess I'll keep posting on kijiji and calling lfs.
