can u put lava rock in a cichlid tank or as a filter media just a thought i had
 
I've had lava rock in my tank for a while now, very rarely see any scratches or cuts on fish. I'm no pro tho as I'm sure they'll be others saying differently
 
Yea for sure, I usually just keep my water a bit salty to make sure everything heals well if anything happens that I don't notice.

If you havent bought the lava rock yet I'd maybe go with a different type. Its nice looking in the tank but all sides are sharp due to the air bubbles that were trapped inside when the lava solidified.

I've been slowly removing it from my tank
And replacing with stacked slate, a much safer and better (IMO) look.
