I'm definitely planning on having probably 5-6 dwarf blue leg hermits. I'm not fond on snails so I may pass on those guys.

Still no drop in ammo. Grrrr. At least my guppies keep me company :)

Personal opinion is to have a snail pack for a 10gal tank from reefcleaners and only 2 hermits max with some extra shells in there for them. Hermits dont too much for your sand bed... while the snails would.

Still no drop in ammonia. Is this the right stuff?

Just wanted to be sure. I've never cycled fishless, always with a few guppies and a lot of pwc's. Thx

10 Days now after dosing Ammonia and there is still no noticeable drop in test color. I consulted the color chart again and it may be that the ammo was dosed to 8ppm or maybe even off the chart. Is it possible to dose too much. Should I try a 50% water change?

Yeah do a water change. Anything that high will just stall the cycle. Which is OK! Just a little water change and test till it comes out to 3-4ppm

Did 2 25%ish pwc's. Color seems more on the chart than before.

Idea, I'm running a 60 and a 30 topfin filter on my 29g freshwater. I could spare the 30 topfin to help cycle the saltwater aquarium. Is that possible, would I be able to then put it back on the freshwater tank when finished?

I know you wont be able to put it back into the freshwater.

Idea of this is also to season your dry rock. So making the cycle faster... won't exactly season the rock as well. Have patience... if this is rough and your getting antzy then likely trouble till ensue.

I've moved my filters between sw and fw with no adverse effects. Just be sure it is completely cleaned, I take out the impeller too and clean around that. You can't of course use the same filter media but the filter itself will be fine.

It continues! Starting notcing brownish stuff growing on the live rock I bought. Ammonia is about 3-4ppm since I did a water change to bring it down from about 8ppm, decided to test nitrites and finally got some, .5ppm!!!

Nitrites and Nitrates showing, all is well and can't wait for the cycle to finish.
