I wonder if a check valve would help. It might help with some of the pressure that the power head is creating. It is a huge guess...

I've been meaning to get a check valve lol. I think there must be a leak maybe, the bottle isn't getting firm like the others did. Argagrgagrga so annoyed with it lol

I ordered a few sumo loaches from SM too, they should be here Thursday :)

So far with all the excel, I have no melting, and the fish are fine, even the scaleless ones. I just wish the algae would die faster.

Edit: I just thought of something, I'm gonna ask my parents for a pressurized co2 system for my birthday at the end of November! Maybe I can finally grow some lush plants without the algae :)

I swear sky, this is the last time I'll ask you about this lol. But i m pretty sure all I need is: the milwaukee soleniod valve, regulator and bubble counter, the tank, and a diffusion method? Ppi could use the power head right?

lol no worries man. You can use the powerhead as a diffuser but i would recommend using an inline reactor. You will get far better results and less wasted CO2. I would also highly recommend getting the PH controller as well so you don't gas your tank, which is a lot easier with a pressurized system.

How did you make your reactor again? Lol

Edit: I found videos of exactly what I was looking for. Its So complicated!!!! Id need to change the intake tube on my canister and figure out the reactor its self. But you're right, a reactor is the way to go.
edit again: I found an atomic diffuser at GLA that I think would be an awesome place to start. The price is decent and Just look at the bubbles this thing makes at ust 1-2 bps!

with the pressurized system you don't really want CO2 floating around cause you'll be wasting a lot of it. The inline reactor works to dissolve the CO2 into the water thus wasting significantly less, i'll attach a link on how to build one below. I've done the bubble method and the reactor in my tank and reactor wins hands down. I'm not sure what you found for a reactor but the one i used wasn't difficult to build at all and i just bought a new section of tubing from Lowe's since the non kink hose wouldn't work.

Awesome, that's what I needed! Its probably a lot less expensive to build my own. Plus, the guy on the Rex Grigg site said he almost always has them available. So maybe I can buy one off him instead of screwing around myself lol. We'll see if he replies.

all in all is cost me about $10-$15 to build one. They are super easy to build also, I can build one in about 10 min now. the only change i would make on the model that is on that link i sent is the output on the bottom. I'll shoot you a couple pics after i get off work of the two different ones I built to show the change I made.

Cool, it does seem easy to make. I didn't realize that there only a few parts to it. Just cement it all together and silicone the co2 tube into the hole? Then either cut my existing output hose or use a new one and attach it to the output, correct?

Hows the tank doin georgie?

Its going good :) I plan on going high tech sometime soon. I gotta wait til my bdaay at the end of November tto get the co2, unless I convince my parents to get me an early bday gift lol. I haven't even told them that I want co2 yet lol. Fingers crossed for an easy yes :) but then I will have NO bba and everything will be all nice and green and the dwarf sag will grow like crazy and it'll be aweeesssoomme.

The excel isn't doing much at all, some looks like its dying, other spots doesn't. The green algae on the rocks is still there too. Should I call it quits or keep going? I've been doing like 4 caps a day

When I set the co2 up, I dont know what the correct word is but how much would I have tto inject to kill my current bba and keep it away?

There really isn't a set amount to aim for to kill just the bba. You want to get your levels to a point where your drop checker turns a nice pretty lime green and just maintain that amount. The algae will die in time.

Here is that pic I promised to get to you last week...oops. the one on the end has the modification on the output. Instead of fighting the right angle if you can just do the 45* bend your return flow will be much better. The right angle design killed the flow back to my tank. Just a suggestion :)

Cool, I have everything I'd need in my Amazon cart lol. Still researching the reactors though. The 45 angle seems 100% better than a right angle, I can see how it would kill your flow. Thanks for sharing that! I finally told my parents about it 10 min ago, it was a no until I told them co2 isn't flammable. I guess that was a major concern. :) now all I gotta do is find a freaking place to get a tank filled!!

Woohoo! that's awesome! I've used the pressurized system without a reactor too, it works so if you have to wait on the reactor no worries. Just try to get one sooner than later, you won't regret it.

Finding a place shouldn't be hard. Look for welding shops :)

I almost forgot, those sumo loaches are awesome buddy!

Found a place that does exchanges for like 20 bucks total, seems pretty average right? How long did a tank last you?

Thanks! They are cool but I haven't seen them in days, hopefully they will begin to come out :)
