I like the idea of keeping some shrimp in my tank. Right now there are a few low light plants, 6 guppies, 4 black skirts and two dwarf gouramis. There is also a young boom on pleco I'm trying to move. I haven't kept shrimp before so am wondering which species would be a good start.

Thanks!

I have red cherry shrimp in my community tank but it is heavily planted and have a lot of Java moss for the little ones to hide in. The fish do eat some of the young ( the cherrys breed like rabbits) but I keep finding very small shrimp that have escaped the 30 tetras that prowl the tank. The emphasis here is on having a heavily planted tank.
Otherwise Amano would work. My fish won't even venture near them.
Personally I think shrimp and snails ( I have MTS) are an essential part of the Eco system and good fun to watch.
