Male betta and cories?

There are most definitely two fish I LOVE bold elegant bettas and cute tiny pygmy cories. Would I be able to put these guys together or would I then be rescuing the cories from death? Cories first maybe and then a betta?

I've kept cories and male bettas together in a ten gallon. I really depends on the betta as they all have their little quirks. He shouldn't bother them much after they all get settled in the tank. Bettas are fairly slow swimmers and cories can be pretty fast when they want to be. Just make sure there are places to hide and you have the space for at least three cories.
