Haha yep! My 30 Gallon is actually at my grandma's house, so we kinda divvy up the work. :)

I wanted to finish the stock off with a trio of platies, a school of rummy-nose tetras, another honey gold DG, and a pair of angelfish. Am I pushing the boundaries again?

Also, I can no longer get plants. So I'm stuck with the plants I have and was wondering: when you prune plants can you just replant the clippings somewhere else in the tank?

Thanks :)

sorry, but you cannot add all those fish to your 40 gallon :nono:
You already have 2 schools (cherry barbs and rainbowfish). It's best not to add any more schools.
If you want a school of rummynose - put it in your 30 gallon!

A pair of angelfish wouldn't fit with your current stock. The barbs and rainbowfish will take up most of your aquarium space.

The only fish you may be able to squeeze inside, is another dwarf gourami.
Either 1 male (risky), or 2 females

Regarding your plants. If you grow Anubias, you can replant the rhizomes!
They will form and grow new leaves.

Gah!

What if the cherry barbs go in the thirty gallon and I get the rummynoses in my forty gallon instead?

Maybe one angel instead?

I'm going full-on with the DG. I really like my gold honey, and she is really shy, so I think adding another one will make her feel more secure.

why do you insist on adding so many fish? LOL.
It only leads to more problems with water chemistry (especially ammonia and nitrate) and more cleaning/maintenance (bigger water changes).

From experience, Less is definitely more! and your fish will be much happier.

But to answer your question. Either of your suggestions will work.
How does this look?

40 gallon breeder
1 Angelfish
1 Honey Dwarf Gourami
4 rainbowfish
6 rummynose tetra
6 emerald corydoras

I'm sorry but it's just my tendency to like lots of fish equally and I kinda want to just turn my room into a full-on aquarium so I can fit all the fish I want in there! :D

I actually like that stocking! But...I still have the GBRs, and I'm sure all three are not going to like it in the thirty gallon, plus with the other angel in there as well...

just swap and move fish around from your 30 gallon to your 40 gallon, and vice-versa.
There is no need to keep buying new fish.

Honestly, cramming 6 different species of fish into a tank isn't healthy for the fish and it doesn't look good.
Fish need to establish territories in a tank. This becomes difficult when you have several other fish that occupy the same strata and space in the aquarium.
You want your fish to feel relaxed and exhibit as much of their natural behaviour as possible. That's impossible to do if you keep bumping into another fish.

Now fish are happy to share their territory - But there are limits!
Your current stock has rainbowfish, rummynose tetras, Angelfish. They all occupy the middle of the tank!
Your poor angelfish will feel stressed and will probably spend most of its time closer to the surface where it has more freedom to swim freely.
The only problem is that the angelfish is invading the territory of the dwarf gourami, who is happily building a bubble nest. To which is now disturbed and broken.

Fast-forward to adding your German Blue rams to the mix. Exactly where are they supposed to fit in the aquarium?

Okay, I have changed it once more. :D Keep in mind none of this has happend yet, so it's not said and done until we're all satisfied with it :)

x4 boesman's plus one australian
x1 angelfish
x1 gold honey DG
x6 emerald cories
x2 GBR

It's heavily planted, so there's lots of cover for the fish.

I decided to kick off the rummies. I love them, but I know that it just wasn't meant to be..

Boesemans Rainbowfish (top, middle)
Angelfish (middle)

Yes!!!!!!!

The only problem I have is there is no more red in the tank anymore...I was kinda counting on the rummies for that so I could have an assortment of fish all the colors of the rainbow! :)

Do you by any chance know any fish that is red and can live singly but could fit in the current stock? :)

The only thing I could suggest in that set-up would be like 1 or 2 platys. IME, they swim everywhere in the tank. Or I have seen red BN plecos, but I think they are hard to find and probably expensize. YOu could add an albino BNP, they have red eyes...
I am glad it seems you have settled with a smaller stock since the rainbows need a lot of space.

Okay, so here's the stocking list!
x2 red mickeymouse platies
x1 angelfish
x5 rainbows
x6 emerald cories
x1 gold honey DGs
x2 GBRs
Sounds good right???

ALSO!

I don't know if this would work, but could just one more angel work? Then I'd be DONE with the stocking list and it'd be complete. Tell me what you think! Thanks :)

Okay.

What kind of angel do you recommend? I like everything from Filipino blues to marbled kois and albinos...is there such a thing as a multi-colored angel? :)

Koi are the only multi colored I am aware of.
The variety mostly depends on preference. Personally, I have a mostly black marble veiltale, a golden, and a silver striped. A golden would look awesome in your set-up since it would contrast the bright colors of the rainbows. The blues are amazing! My silver striped boy has s blue sheen which is gorgeous. I have stayed away from pure black because I have heard they tend to be more aggressive than the other varieties. I also prefer the regular finage to the veiltales. But, it depends on what you like.

I'm partial to the more gold and blue ones since they're my colors, obviously...:D

But the only problem I have with blues is that they aren't actually blue, they're more of a grey color. Is this just the juvenille coloration???

Also, how do you acclamate angels? Mine mysteriously die after a week or two every time...

THe adult philipino blues I have seen are grey with a strong blue sheen. They do not have blue pigment, but a blue color is reflected off of them. I love my golden angel. She is lovely.
When I got mine, they were all about 2 inches. Wait until the tank is well established. It is good for the angel's acclimation as well as for territorial reasons. Honestly, all I did was float the bag for 15 minutes, add a cup of tank water, wait 10 more minutes and dumped them in. No deaths. That is weird that your die. Any chance a tankmate is getting to them?

Nope, I tried adding one to my thirty a couple of months ago, and there were no signs of a struggle or bullying, it just ended up floating one day...

Oh pooey. Well, I guess I could go for a gold angel. Actually, now that I think about it, I kinda like the smokey and chocolate varieties too! Guess I'll have to look at the LFS and see what strains they have. HMmm

Yeah, I LOVE mine and they just came from my lfs. IMO, there are son many beautiful ones. I had a hard time picking those 3. And since then, I have seen soooooooo many that I wish I had tank space for.

Bleh. I'm indecisive, I swear I'm going to spend six hours at the LFS trying to decide on which one! :D

BTW if you prune plants, can you just plant the clippings and it will just grow a seperate plant? I can't buy any more live plants because my mom just informed me I'm out of money to spend...
