What is the difference between a False Percula and a True Percula? I saa references to them all over but I can not find anything that states why one is different from the other.
TIA ,
Brian

True perc vs. false perc...

One has an extra fin ray or two, but there is an easier way to tell without hoping for the fish to stay still long enough to count...LOL.

A false perc aka ocellaris has much less black and in neat curvy lines. True percs however have more black that bleeds from the curvy lines as well as on the head. Juveniles may be difficult to tell apart without counting rays.

Here are two photos for you...

is that the false has richer orange, and the true has lighter orange?
btw, true or false in the movie finding nemo? :)

The True perc has the broader black stripes (the bottom picture in the post above).

Nemo is a False percula (Amphiprion ocellaris). The True percula is Amphiprion percula.
